San Francisco based battery swapping company Ample has raised $160 million in Series C to help scale its service. This is the largest round yet for this 8 year old startup. Ample wants to completely change how we charge electric vehicles.

Their new approach is to equip cars with the companies modular battery packs that can then be easily swapped with a fully charged battery pack at one of their charging pod locations. The spent batteries can then be recharged and made ready to be inserted to another vehicle.
